LIO at OLA 2016

As a part of the Legal Information for Oklahoma initiative, librarians Doug Amos and Natalie Vaughn will present a session titled “Legal Reference for Non-Law Librarians at the 2016 Oklahoma Library Association Annual Conference. The session will take place on Friday, April 1st at 7:30 am in the Executive room. Doug will provide an overview of conducting reference transactions on Federal, State and local legal topics. He will also cover legal reference resources, how to use them, and techniques for conducting a legal reference interview.  Natalie Vaughn will provide concrete strategies for dealing with demanding customers asking for legal advice, as well as an overview of the Legal Information for Oklahoma initiative. We hope this session will be the start of many more legal reference training sessions to come.

LIO at OLA 2015

The Legal Information for Oklahoma initiative will be at the Oklahoma Library Association Annual Conference on April 29 through May 1 at the Reed Center in Midwest City. The LIO initiative is the latest project launched by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries. LIO seeks to collect, organize, and promote access to resources related to the Oklahoma legal system for the benefit of all Oklahomans. As this initiative evolves, more resources will become available to help libraries provide excellent legal reference service to their communities. We welcome input on the legal questions that you encounter most often, as well as the type of training that would be most helpful to your library. Stop by the ODL booth in the exhibit hall to share your thoughts and learn more about LIO. . Plus! Stop by the LIO Poster Session at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
